St. Matthew's Church, Sherford Road, Elburton, PL9 9DQ.
St. Matthew’s Church is located on the eastern boundary of Plymouth, close to Elburton Centre and next to the Elburton Hotel. It is an easy walk from most parts of the parish, is well served by public transport and is easily accessible by car.
The Church has entrances at the front and rear, both of which are open for services. For security, the doors are often locked after the start of the evening service and during the day. When events are taking place in the lower hall, the front entrance may not be open so is it best to come in through the rear door, from the car park.
On Foot
If you are coming on foot from Elburton Centre, St. Matthew’s can be accessed by the underpass crossing the Elburton Road outside the Elburton Hotel. Once through the underpass, turn right up the steps for the front entrance in Sherford Road or turn left up the ramp to access the rear entrance through the car park.
By Public Transport
Elburton is served by a frequent bus service from the City Centre. The No. 6 (operated by First Devon and Cornwall) can be caught at a number of stops in the City Centre, including Drake Circus, Royal Parade A8 and Mayflower Street.
The No. 6 Stops at Plymstock Broadway before reaching St. Matthew's and stops immmediately outside St. Matthew's church car park (The Elburton Hotel).
The No. 6 can also be caught back into the town centre from the bus stop opposite St. Matthew's Car Park (Elburton School). This bus stop can be reached using the underpass outside the Elburton Hotel.
By Car
The front of the church is on Sherford Road where there is limited on-street parking. Alternatively, there is a car park which is accessible through the bus stop on the east-bound carriageway of the A379, immediately before the Elburton Hotel. (Pictured Below)
If you are coming to the car park from Elburton shops or along the A379 from Brixton/Yealmpton then you will need to go past the Elburton roundabout on the A379 and turn around at the next roundabout (Stanborough Road/Haye Road) so that you are travelling east on the A379.
