Hall Hire

Although St. Matthew’s building is in use throughout the week, it is sometimes possible to hire the hall for children's parties (under 12, ending by 6pm), quiet private functions, and community events. We are unable to accept any commercial bookings unless there is a strong connection to the local area. Please note that our facilities are not available for hire on Sundays (the Lord's Day).

The Lower Hall was refurbished in 2001 and offers a large carpeted area with seating for up to 100 adults. A new smoke alarm system was installed in 2017 and the hall was repainted in September 2018. There is easy disabled access to the Lower Hall, although all the toilets are on the upper floor and are only accessible from the Lower Hall via stairs. As of 1st September 2021 we are re-open for children's parties.

Our  charges for room hire, including heating and lighting, from 1 Jan 2023 are as followed:

0-3hrs booking – £45

3-5hrs booking – £70

All day booking – £90

+£40 deposit – to be returned if hall found clean and tidy after use, key safely returned & no loss due to doors or windows being left open. If there is loss, users may be liable to pay more to cover the cost of purchasing replacement items.

Reduced charges may be available for charitable causes on request.

Our Upper Hall ('The Lounge') is also sometimes available for hire.
